Wayanad (or Wynad) Wildlife Sanctuary (Malayalam: വയനാട് വന്യജീവി സംരക്ഷണകേന്ദ്രം) is an animal sanctuary in Wayanad district in Kerala, South India. It is spread over 344 km² and is about 16 km east of Sultan Battery, the nearest large town. The sanctuary is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The Western Ghats, Nilgiri Sub-Cluster (6,000+ km²), including all of the sanctuary, is under consideration by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for selection as a World Heritage Site. 11°36′18″N 76°4′58.8″E / 11.605°N 76.083°E / 11.605; 76.083
